Summer Time Treat

The temperatures are rising and this is the time of year to stay cool and hydrated! It is fun to have some refreshing treats in the house for you and your family.

I wanted to give you a option in replacement of the famous Otter Pops. Have you ever taken a look at the ingredients? The second ingredient is High Fructose Corn Syrup, a toxic sugar, along with many other not so good ingredients: sodium benzoate, citric acid, dyes, preservatives, and not organic! The combination of sodium benzoate and citric acid together form benzene, which is a cancer causing chemical associated with leukemia and other blood cancers! So put down that Otter Pop and here is another great option for you to grab this summer to cool down…

Get out your juicer and grab your Organic fruits and veggies!

Apples- contain fiber, slow releasing sugars that improve heart health and body’s blood sugar levels, vitamins and minerals that promote strong and healthy bones.

Pears- a great source of water soluble fiber, beta-carotene (body converts this into vitamin A which gives us healthy skin and mucus membranes, healthy immune system, and good eye health), and B vitamins

Grapefruit- high in vitamin C, this fruit can help reduce the severity of inflammatory conditions such as asthma

Spinach- this green leaf is packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant compounds that have anti-inflammation properties that help protect against heart disease and help to neutralize the free radicals that compromise the immune system. Also vitamin K that helps protect our bones.

Celery- helps reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol. Also rich in B vitamins and fiber.

Cucumber- packed with bio-available (easily absorbed) minerals, vitamins, and electrolytes. They also contain digestive enzymes that benefit the gut.

Parsley- Parsley has a diuretic action and is rich in antioxidants that can help relieve congestion and inflammation in the kidneys and bladder. Also rich in vitamin K to support healthy bones.

This is just one recipe I put together to try but you can make your own mix of organic fruits and veggies at home. After juicing all of these ingredients, I then poured the juice into a safe and non toxic Ice Pop Mold and stuck them in the freezer. Give it some time to freeze, pull out and Enjoy! I hope this helps give you and your family another healthy option to a great summer time treat!
